Firm History & Philosophy

Since 1988, EDM has built a legacy of engineering excellence, rooted in collaboration and precision. It all began when a young Ron Griffin saw the region’s growing need for specialized engineering and project management services—an insight that set the foundation for decades of innovation and expertise.

“Our reputation was built on listening to clients, understanding challenges, and delivering the right solutions,” Ron reflects. “It’s rewarding to see EDM continue that mission.”

The firm’s first client, Crane Paper, remains a valued partner today—an enduring testament to EDM’s commitment to lasting relationships. Over the years, EDM expanded its expertise across industries, serving manufacturing, institutional, and government sectors. In 2000, it integrated design and architecture into a full-service AE firm, strengthening client support across Connecticut and Massachusetts.

When Ron retired in 2019, he entrusted EDM’s future to Jeromy Richardson, now the company’s CEO. For Jeromy, Ron was more than a mentor—he was a father figure and the very soul of EDM. “He lived and breathed this company,” Jeromy reflects. “His vision and relentless energy built the foundation we stand on today. He kept things running for many, many years, ensuring EDM thrived.”

Under Jeromy’s leadership, EDM has returned to its engineering roots while collaborating with top architects to enhance each project’s success. “Collaboration is key,” he says. “We partner with our clients and assemble the right team ensuring benefits from the right expertise while staying true to our engineering focus.”
