Overview
EDM provided engineering services for this study, renovation and new extension for the historic Town of Monterey Library. The original 1930’s era building was fully restored, removing subsequent additions. The new library features a 60% larger multipurpose room, a large reading deck overlooking the Konkapot River, quiet study spaces, and dedicated areas for adults, children, and teens. The project was funded by the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program and the Town.
Renovation work made the library fully accessible. Improvements include a new roof, a dry basement, insulation, energy-efficient mechanical systems and lighting, increased capacity, and updating/improving mostly hidden structural details. The project achieved LEED Certification.
