Overview
Faced with an existing facility too large to serve its current congregation’s needs, Zion Lutheran hired EDM to master plan their facility for the future. The proposed solution maintains the original 1890’s Church sanctuary, removes an outdated 15,000 SF “ugly duckling” addition (circa 1960), and constructs a new 3,000 SF fellowship/administrative wing, designed to serve the current needs of the congregation and integrate with the original historic Church design.
In addition to this, EDM is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering for the Zion Church Renovation. The renovation consists of repurposing a portion of the church’s space into affordable housing for the community, which aims to address a critical need in Pittsfield.
